Force Protection Ship Simulator

In support of the Center for Anti-Terrorism and Naval Security Forces (CENATNSF), Aviation Systems of NW FL (ASI) has been awarded a contract by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAVIAR Orlando) to refurbish, repair/install items on the FPSS's. The Navy has previously procured these simulators, which have been installed at eight locations, including Mayport FL, Pearl Harbor HI, Silverdale WA, Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan, Chesapeake VA, San Diego CA, Groton CT, and Ingleside TX. ASI was awarded this 3 year contract in Sept 05.

On the FPSS all handrails, interior and exterior, have been welded and attached so they have a continuous surface without obstruction to personnel. Additional handrails were fabricated and installed for safety. Deck grating was installed to provide a non-skid surface.

External power was upgraded to a 300 amp, 120/208 volt, 3 phase service. All marine type wiring has been removed and new wiring was installed in commercial grade conduit. ASI has installed a connection and switching/bus transfer device so a generator may be connected to the FPSS structure as an alternate source of power for emergency operations.

ASI removed all individual "dog" type watertight hatches and replaced them with quick acting watertight hatches. All doors and hatches are equivalent to those currently in use with Naval and commercial vessels.
